The theme of time ostensibly links more with philosophy or physics than with economics; but in their introduction, the editors (both affiliated with the U. of Bologna) assert that economists do indeed analyze the difficult questions of time, and the 75 articles they've selected are only a portion of the literature. This work comprises three volumes, each with about 25 articles reprinted in facsimile from books and from journals such as J. of Post Keynesian Economics, Econometrica, J. of Economic Theory, and American Economic Review ; with a few exceptions, the material was published in the last 40 years. Arrangement is in sections on methodological issues; equilibrium; irreversibility; complex systems; paradoxes in game theory; the allocation of time; and time, preference reversal, and the theory of choice.
